Someone once asked me why I started Safety Educational Services?.... The simple answer is because I want the community to be better prepared for an emergency, especially when it comes to Sudden Cardiac Arrest with the hopes they won't have the same experiences I have had. My biggest reasons are my family...On December 26, 2016 my father-in-law, Lee Poinan suffered a from a Sudden Cardiac Arrest in our driveway following a our family Christmas dinner. Even though I immediately provided CPR, he left us that day. I still struggle asking myself what else I could have done. Even though I know and have been told by responders and Doctors that nothing else could have been done, it is still a hard reality to grasp. Since that day other in my family including my father and myself have a history of cardiac related issues. I have restructured my energy to help others be more prepared, get more AED's available to the public, support those that have gone through similar events, and keep my skills sharp with the hopes I will never have to use them again.
In October 2018, Rob joined the Monroe County Peer Support Team (www.mcpeersupport.org) to continue to serve the Emergency Services Members with Monroe County, volunteering his time to support first responders and their families. He currently serves as one of the Teams Executive Board Members.
